EMEC appoints Metocean Data Manager

Joe Thompson

The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) has named Joe Thompson as its new Metocean Data Manager.

Starting at EMEC back in 2011, Thompson previously worked as a Data Technician.

Thompson will be responsible for EMEC’s data management, overseeing the collection, manipulation, quality control and dissemination of data, EMEC informed.

Joe Thompson said: “The position at EMEC seemed like a logical continuation of my previous role, with greater responsibility and a chance to work on and move along our data strategy. But more than that, it gives me greater opportunities to make a difference to the industry, with EMEC being at the centre of the ever moving and adapting sector.”

The scope of work also includes development of EMEC’s Data Management and Dissemination Strategy to simplify the access to EMEC’s data to industry and accademia.
