Wave Energy Scotland (WES) has hired ITPEnergised to act as an independent advisor for the engineering design activities for each of the four WES’ novel wave energy converter (NWEC) stage 2 projects.

The Edinburgh-based provider of engineering services ITPEnergised has been contracted to conduct an appraisal of the concept engineering and front end engineering design (FEED) activities undertaken by the NWEC stage 2 projects.

The principal output of this contract will be four engineering design appraisal reports, WES said on Scottish government’s procurement portal, which will be based on the outcome of the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) of the full-scale concept design, and the Critical Design Review (CDR) for a small sea-going prototype.

The purpose of the reports is to inform WES’ evaluation of the engineering design workstream for the projects, which will consider the realization of the stage 2 target outcomes.

Also, WES’ evaluation will assess the technical readiness to proceed to the detailed design, build, and testing of a small sea-going prototype in stage 3.

The value of the contract awarded to ITPEnergised is approximately £38,000.

WES is a subsidiary of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), established and fully funded by the Scottish government with the aim to accelerate the development of wave energy sector in Scotland.
