Third MeyGen turbine in place

The third Andritz Hydro Hammerfest 1.5MW tidal turbine was installed at the MeyGen site, according to Atlantis Resources’ social media. With the third turbine now in place, one more turbine is left to be installed at the project site in the Pentland Firth, Scotland, as part of the Phase 1A of the MeyGen project. The four turbines will have the combined output of 6MW.

SEENEOH secures €400K through French ‘investment arm’

SEENEOH tidal testing center has been backed by €400,000 through a repayable grant agreement signed with French public sector financial institution Caisse des Dépôts. This represents a final step in completing the necessary financing for the project which will feature three tidal testing berths. It is located upstream Garonne river in Bordeaux, France.

Norwegian Ocean Power trials tidal prototype

Norwegian Ocean Power has wrapped up the trials on its Pulsus horizontal-axis spiral-design tidal turbine. The trials included tow-testing of the bearing, and the load in the turbine blades at Drammensfjorden in Norway. The company is focused on the development of its first commercial unit, planned to have the capacity of 350kW.

OpenHydro appoints Patrick Gougeon as CEO

OpenHydro, part of DCNS Energies, has appointed Patrick Gougeon as the Chief Executive Officer. OpenHydro said that, following the launch of DCNS Energies, the appointment signals the company’s ongoing drive towards commercialisation of its tidal technology.

Enel, Invitalia invest €2.25M in 40South Energy

Invitalia Ventures and Enel Green Power have closed a €2.25 million co-investment round in the Italian wave energy company 40South Energy. The investment will support the development of 40South Energy’s technology and the commercialisation of the H24 wave energy device.
