SEENEOH prepares two berths for tidal testing

SEENEOH tidal test center has completed the construction of two tidal testing berths at the Garonne river, Bordeaux, France.

The two completed berths have been operational since December 2, 2016, and the center is now ready to test tidal devices, SEENEOH said on social media.

The marine works on the site, which included the installation of anchors, grid connection and system control and data analysis (SCADA) systems, started back in October.

The site is located upstream Garonne river in an area with suitable natural conditions for tidal testing, where currents above 1 m/s occur approximately 80% of the time, according to SEENEOH.

Once fully constructed, SEENEOH will comprise three test berths at depths greater than 8 meters, designed to test tidal devices with either mounted or floating fixation type.

Each testing berth is connected to the onshore substation through an export cable, with a grid connection that has a total capacity of 250kW.

The test site is operated by Énergie de la Lune – an engineering firm specializing in marine renewable energy and ocean engineering.
